Invention means new technical solutions proposed for a product, a process or the improvement thereof while utility model means new technical solutions proposed for the shape and structure of a product, or the combination thereof, which are fit for practical use. The life time of an invention patent is 20 years from date of filing and the life time of a utility model patent is 10 years from date of filing.
Chinese invention patent or utility model patent application can be filed as a first application globally or can claim priority from other prior applications filed in China or other countries, or can be a national phase entry of a PCT application.
